Just moved into town over the weekend and was recommended White Tiger. I got the BBQ plate which comes with pulled pork, mac n cheese, coleslaw and a roll. I'm not a coleslaw person but they let me switch it out for more mac which was great. The food was amazing and the atmosphere sitting outside after dark with the lights was lovely. The pulled pork was delicious and the mac n cheese was perfect. We went on a Sunday around 6pm and it wasn't a long wait at all. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area and I'll definitely be back to try the sandwiches or burgers next time.
Amazing food. I mean like...we re-planned parts of our trip to go again amazing. Staff was also really helpful and sweet. The bbq is excellent but there's also lots of options for vegetarians. The seared salmon was so tender and really perfectly cooked. Order the Pimento Cheese and Crackers - totally worth it.
Every time I hit up @whitetigerathens in Athens, I ask myself "why am I not here every week!?" 😭 Every menu item here is amazing but my favorite is their sandwiches... neat and delicious without going over board on anything. Theirs staff is always friendly and prices are fair. Inside is spacious but I've managed to make it here every time when they aren't crowded so I can't speak to how crowded they get and how parking is impacted (street parking). Absolutely loved this quirky little place. We are road tripping through the state and found this place on google maps. We were looking for somewhere with good meat and vegetarian options and this place has lots of great options. Plus, we could sit outside with the dog. We all really enjoyed the food. My family loved the Mac and cheese and pimento cheese and crackers. The tofu salad was great. Also ordered was the BBQ pork sandwich, smoked chicken sandwich, portobello burger and the bacon cheeseburger. All really good eats! The service was awesome. So friendly and accommodating. Totally recommend this place and it is a shame we probably won’t be back. Go!
Great place, the building is a old grocery store i believe and over 100 year's old. Food is very good, the location is off the normal path and kinda hard to find but we'll worth it. Lots of vegan options if that's your thing.
My family had a great experience tonight at White Tiger. The food was delicious. We had the burger and BBQ— and complimentary Banana Puddin’. All soooo good! We agreed the BBQ is the best in town. The service was equally amazing. We have a young toddler, and the sweet staff member took time to play with her in between helping customers. 10/10 experience. Would highly recommend to BBQ lovers. We’ll be returning!
I picked up dinner for my husband from this funky little Athenian treasure right in the heart of Normaltown . We had heard great things about their burgers and were certainly not disappointed. Generous portion of meat with all the toppings. Side of Mac/cheese with banana pudding to finish out the meal. All were flavorful and loaded with homemade goodness. Only did a pick up but already planning to go back as a date night.
The White Tiger is definitely an experience. The food is good but a bit pricey. We enjoyed the smoked pork, tomato soup, and vegetables.
As of 4/12/26 White Tiger is a 19 year veteran establishment in West Athens friendly to all who enjoy good music, good food and good times. Ken, long time owner and local Athens resident, can often be found working the counter regularly with a smile. Menu options have something for everyone (including vegan and gluten free) from snacks to platters and portions are hearty. White Tiger is a restaurant that captures quality, value, and uniqueness in a way that most places seek to, but just can’t get right.
For those that like ambiance, history, food and music mixed into a single experience try the White Tiger. “Sin” was our server/historian and added more to the experience than any menu item. While waiting for the food Sin gave us a ten minute history of the building and the surrounding area. Food was good. We tried a pulled pork plate and chicken plate. Meats were drizzled with the White Tiger vinegar based barbecue sauce. The sauce was subtle and added perfect flavoring, unlike those thick heavily spiced sauces that drown out the smoked meat flavor. My wife did the grilled veggies that were awesome. Real grilled, still crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. I did the mac&cheese which while cheesy was under seasoned for my liking. The sweet tea was not too sweet but could have been stronger. We finished with the home made banana pudding, my favorite dessert, and it was thick and creamy just like I like it. I don’t leave reviews very often but the White Tiger stood out for all the right reasons; good food, good ambiance, good music and good hosting. Give it a try when you go to Athens!
